New Year, New Journey ft. WWE Superstar Bianca Belair

When the start of a new year rolls around we inevitably focus on all the things we want to change or do in the coming year. Then we wind up forgetting all of those things within a span of a few weeks. Sure, we start off strong and gung-ho about all our 'resolutions' but then lack of time, lack of interest, or even the difficulty level to achieve these goals makes us stop and say 'maybe next year.'

Sound like you? I know I've done it. The beauty is you can reinvent yourself everyday if you want to.

Let me tell you a little story about WWE Superstar and women's champion Bianca Belair. A former track and field athlete, Bianca became All-SEC and All-American as well as being named to the SEC's academic honor roll in 2011 and 2012. After school and struggling with an eating disorder Bianca shifted her focus to start competing in Crossfit competitions. It was there that she caught the eye of WWE Hall of Famer Mark Henry. He signed her to a developmental contract with the WWE where she has since become the RAW women's champion despite some doubting her skill.

Here's where things really get interesting....

The WWE Superstars travel 300 days or more out of the year. But even being on the road holding down that crazy schedule, Belair managed to not only train for a bodybuilding competition, she actually placed first to get her WBFF Pro card...AND she designed and sewed her own gear for both her wrestling attire and the bodybuilding show.

For those who don't know, training for any type of fitness competition usually takes your complete focus. You have to workout at a very structured plan, your nutrition and meals have to be on point to achieve the look you're after, and it also takes a toll mentally. For Bianca to be wrestling while training for this show is an unbelievable amount of dedication and discipline. In the last week or so of training you have to start depleting your water and carbohydrate ratio so that the muscle definition pops. While doing that, Bianca battled in a double cage match called Wargames! That is why they call her the EST of WWE - the roughest, the toughest, the quickest, the baddest, the strongest.

When I was competing fitness, I could barely hold a job as my entire focus went into training. For Bianca to do what she did made me stop and think. And this is why I'm telling you this story. If Bianca Belair can accomplish what she's accomplished in this past year alone then the excuses are out the window for me...and I hope for you too!

All it takes to hit your goals is a dedicated plan of action that you follow through on no matter what. Bianca just proved that the "I have no time" excuse doesn't cut it. You make time for the things you love and you do it for nobody else but yourself.

So, in the coming year when I start to drag ass on my goals (fitness or otherwise) I'm going to think of Bianca and her incredible achievements to get me to the finish line.
